2018 is the second consecutive year that Robert Lockwood, CEO of the Taylor Bloxham Group has been named in the Power 100, an annual rundown of the print industry’s 100 most influential individuals.
In 2017, Robert made the list for the first time, entering at number 57. In 2018, Robert rose three places to number 54 in the rankings. This year, he was commended for his focus on “new kit, strengthening the management team and rolling out a group sales culture.” Robert was described as a smart business leader who “empowers his team, rather than micromanages. His strategic shift has returned the circa £28m business to profit.”
Robert was promoted from financial director at the Taylor Bloxham Group to CEO in 2016 having worked in the print industry since 1995. He spent the first 18 months of his CEO role stabilising and diversifying the business, expanding the group to include four divisions by the end of 2017.
As the company entered 2018, they celebrated their highest ever turnover and the last year has also seen the group celebrate 80 years in business, making them one of the longest running print companies in the UK
“2018 has been another successful year for the Taylor Bloxham Group and I’m delighted that the company’s progress has been formally recognised by my inclusion in the Power 100,” comments Robert. “However, this accolade really belongs to the whole team who have supported me in implementing some key changes. This is a great way to round off our 80th anniversary.”
The company has recently embarked on an ambitious programme of investment and diversification which has seen the group expand to new premises as well as acquiring new equipment and continuing to expand the group-wide ‘one-stop’ offering that clients now desire and demand.
Group executive chairwoman April Sharpless attributes much of the company’s success to Robert’s leadership supported by his management team. She comments: “Of course, Robert has a great team of people behind him but it is his vision which has helped the Taylor Bloxham Group expand and go from strength to strength, despite some difficult times for the print industry. Robert has inspired the company to look for opportunities in the marketplace and to continue adopting new innovation to keep the group at the forefront of the marcomms sector.”
The Taylor Bloxham Group currently employs around 200 people across the four divisions which include Taylor Bloxham printing company, storage and distribution division FastAnt, Instore design and point of purchase operation and the direct mail and fulfilment brand Mailbox.
